Real Madrid's Zidane reacts after the UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich

Arturo Vidal has branded Real Madrid as ‘rats’ following Bayern Munich’s Uefa Champions League semi-final exit on Tuesday night.

The German champions were edged out of the competition after they failed to overturn a 2-1 deficit at the Bernabeu, drawing 2-2 with Madrid despite appearing to be the better side during the contest.

The Chilean midfielder missed Bayern’s European exit after having surgery on a knee injury last month, and while that may have kept him out of the battle at the Bernabeu, it didn’t prevent him lambasting both Zinedine Zidane’s side and the referee on Instagram.

Vidal was furious with referee Cüneyt Çakır after he failed to award Bayern a penalty when a Joshua Kimmich cross appeared to strike Marcelo’s arm, which was then followed by another incident in the second half when Sergio Ramos brought down Robert Lewandowski inside the Real Madrid penalty area.

“Once again!!! Criminal s***” the Chilean wrote on his Instagram story after the Marcelo incident.

Vidal again took to Instagram to vent his frustration at full time, sharing an image of the Real Madrid squad celebrating with the caption ‘rats’, accompanied by nine ‘angry’ emoticons.

The 30-year-old had earlier taken a swipe at Cristiano Ronaldo before the match by editing an Avengers: Infinity War Bleacher Report poster to have a poo emoji on top of Ronaldo’s head. The doctored poster had cast the Portuguese international as arch villain Thanos, while Vidal’s teammates were depicted as the avengers.

An error at the beginning of the second half from goalkeeper Sven Ulreich ultimately proved costly for the German club.

Bayern pushed late on in search of a third goal that would mean they would progress on away goals, but despite chances for Mats Hummels and Thomas Muller in the depths of stoppage time, Karim Benzema’s double ensured Jupp Heynckes’ side were unable to make their dominance of the ball count.
