Barcelona suffer shock La Liga defeat while Cristiano Ronaldo scores on Real Madrid return
Neymar made his first Barca appearance of the season

Barcelona suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to promoted Alaves at the Camp Nou as Luis Enrique opted to rest star trio Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta.
Neymar returned to the Barca team for the first time this season after leading Brazil to a triumphant gold at the Olympics last month, while goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen and Paco Alcacer made their debuts.
Against the run of play, Deyverson opened the scoring for the visitors before Jeremy Mathieu headed the champions level minutes after half time.
However Ibai Gomez grabbed the winner after a poor clearance from Javier Mascherano – who was also outmuscled for Alaves’ opener.
Messi, Suarez and Iniesta were introduced for the final half an hour but even they couldn’t break the newly-promoted side down.
A downbeat Luis Enrique said after the game: “We didn’t have our day. We were imprecise and they scored two goals from three shots. That is a good summary of the match.”

The result was made worst by Real Madrid’s 5-2 drubbing of Osasuna earlier in the day as they marched to the top of the table.
Cristiano Ronaldo took only six minutes to score in his first game back since winning Euro 2016 with Portugal as Madrid equalled their 1960/61 record of 15 successive La Liga wins.
