Bayern Munich vs Atletico Madrid in doubt after Serge Gnabry tests positive for coronavirus
Gnabry had been training with the first-team squad before confirmation of his positive test result
Bayern Munich’s Champions League group stage fixture tonight against Atletico Madrid has been thrown into doubt after winger Serge Gnabry tested positive for coronavirus.
Gnabry had been training with Bayern’s squad before confirmation of his positive result was received yesterday, and pictures from the holders’ training ground showed the 25-year-old in close contact with centre-back David Alaba.
Bayern’s players have undergone a round of additional testing today to determine if there has been an outbreak within the squad, with results expected at around 3pm local time.
Uefa regulations state that matches will go ahead as planned if both sides have a minimum of 13 professionals, including one goalkeeper, available.
Reports in Germany claim that Bayern are confident the tie will still go ahead as planned.
