Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata reveals the secret to his blossoming partnership with Eden Hazard

Elite football can, at times, be very complex.

But for Alvaro Morata it is often so simple.

The Spanish international has somewhat hit the ground running at Chelsea and currently boasts a streak of seven goals in seven games. The latest of these sparked the Blues’ comeback at Atletico Madrid, at the same time ending his personal run of seven games without scoring against his boyhood club.

Morata’s link-up play with Eden Hazard was a particular highlight of that night in the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, with the Belgian finding him via backheels, through balls and, when it mattered, a deliciously-whipped cross that Morata headed home.

But when asked about the secret to their connection, Morata revealed that it’s all much more straightforward than you might think.

“It's not difficult playing with this kind of player,” he said.

“Eden's one of the three best players in the world. It's easy to play with players like him!”

Morata is enjoying a rare streak of form but also a rare streak of continuity - it doesn't take a genius to join those dots.

Now not just a regular but the undisputed starter for Chelsea, the Spaniard is enjoying being the focal point of the champions’ attack and it is the trust placed in him which he credited for his uptick in production.

“It's the most important thing. I came to Chelsea because one club and one coach believed in me.

“Now I have all of these things and I'm very happy.”

Chelsea will lean heavily on adrenaline to get them through Saturday’s Premier League clash with Manchester City, given the Blues have just a day to prepare after touching down in London in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Antonio Conte wasted little time moaning about the fixture congestion but Morata was ready to appreciate that this grind was just part of life in the Premier League.

“It's always a difficult challenge. It's the most competitive league in the world… and it's the league with the most teams who can win the title. Strong teams. And we're very happy because we're fighting for the Premier League too.”
