Video footage has emerged of Cristiano Ronaldo which some are speculating shows the forward telling Real Madrid fans to 'Go **** themselves'.

Fans of the reigning European champions have been growing increasingly restless in recent weeks and not even their best player was off-limits during the 2-0 league win over Levante at the weekend.

Carlo Ancelotti's side have been faltering in the run-up to this weekend's El Clasico with Barcelona, with a 4-3 defeat to Schalke at the Bernabeu and the recent surrendering of top spot in La Liga of particular concern.

Gareth Bale has taken the brunt of the criticism whilst long-time No 1 Iker Casillas has also been subjected to boos and whistles.

Ronaldo has expressed his displeasure at the situation - taking aim at his team-mates and the media and now appearing to turn his anger on the Real Madrid fans as well.

Footage from behind the goal during Sunday night's match shows Ronaldo reacting to fans after a move broke down. The three-time Ballon d'Or winner is shown turning to the fans, hands on hips with an expression of disdain.

As he turns to return to the action, he mutters something which some have suggested was the Portugues expression 'Foda-se', which translates as 'Go **** yourself/selves'.

Watch the footage below...

It is impossible to be certain what Ronaldo muttered, and it's unlikely he will be revealing his views either as he announced a media silence after the Champions League defeat to Schalke.

Real Madrid play Barcelona at the Nou Camp on Sunday.
