The former Middlesbrough and Derby County striker Fabrizio Ravanelli has been sacked as coach of French side Ajaccio.

The Italian only took up the reins at the start of the season but the Corsicans lie second from bottom of Ligue One with just one win from 12 matches.

A 3-1 defeat at home to Valenciennes on Saturday was Ajaccio’s fourth successive league loss and the last straw for club president Alain Orsoni.
