Arsenal have a big margin to overcome in the Stade Louis II tonight.

Just so there is no confusion on the away goals rule, we thought we'd remind everyone what Arsenal need - especially after the Capital One Cup semi-final decided to confuse everything for us.

Monaco scored three away goals in the Emirates, putting them in an extremely strong position to progress.

But there is still a slim chance for Arsenal, who need to go on the attack from the start.

No matter what, Arsenal must score at least three goals. If they score less than three, they are out, no matter how many Monaco score. The game will only go to extra-time if the Arsenal finish with a 3-1 victory.

If Monaco score one goal, Arsenal still need three to force extra time. If Monaco score two, Arsenal would need a fourth - that would put them through on away goals.

Since the advent of the Champions League no team has ever overturned a the same deficit away from home.

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN

Monaco 0 Arsenal 1 - Monaco through on away goals

Monaco 0 Arsenal 2 - Monaco through on away goals

Monaco 1 Arsenal 2 - Monaco through on aggregate (4-3)

Monaco 2 Arsenal 2 - Monaco through on aggregate (5-3)

Monaco 0 Arsenal 3 - Arsenal through on aggregate (4-3)

Monaco 1 Arsenal 3 - the game goes to extra-time

Monaco 2 Arsenal 3 - Monaco through on aggregate (5-4)

Monaco 2 Arsenal 4 - Arsenal through on away goals

- In a higher scoring game Arsenal would need to have at least a two-goal margin to progress.
