Liverpool travel to Bulgaria knowing that they need to win against Ludogrets and then beat Basel in their following fixture to have any chance of progressing in the Champions League.
Mario Balotelli has been ruled out of the game due to a hamstring injury - the Italian scored the opening goal in the reverse match at Anfield, which Liverpool won 2-1.
However, the Reds have had a torrid season since that first and only Champions League win - they have suffered four straight losses and back-to-back defeats against the champions Real Madrid.
Brendan Rodgers is now under pressure and he cannot afford any more defeats.
With Balotelli out, Liverpool will be hoping Rickie Lambert can provide some relief. The former Southampton striker scored his first goal for Liverpool against Crystal Palace at the weekend.
