A Manchester United fan is undergoing emergency surgery in Paris after he was stabbed in the chest by a taxi driver, according to a report.

The fan, 44, was travelling back to the city centre with three other supporters following United’s 3-1 win over PSG on Wednesday evening when the driver took offence to them singing United songs, according to Sky Sports.

It is reported that the taxi driver threatened a female passenger with a “large blade” before turning on a male passenger and stabbing him, leaving him to fight for his life.

A man was arrested by local police in connection with the incident, but no weapon has been recovered.

Sky Sports said that the victim underwent surgery on Thursday at Hopital Europeen Georges-Pompidou.
