The Brazil international appeared to be inadvertently struck across the face by Vieirinha midway through the first half at the Bernabeu and fell to the ground as if he was unconcious.

For some time Marcelo didn't move - but just as the camera's zoomed in on his face to assess the damage, the 27-year-old looked up appearing absolutely fine.

It might be possible Marcelo was genuinely hurt, but after his antics in the first leg, he is being likened to the boy who cried wolf.

During the first leg in Germany, Marcelo leant his head into Maximilian Arnold's midriff before falling to the ground holding his face. After that match former England manager Glenn Hoddle said: "He goes down like he has been shot, it's embarrassing."

Arnold quipped: "I wish I had such beautiful hair too".

Twitter was in less jovial mood after Marcelo's latest antics...
