Joey Barton's claims that a deal is in place for him to stay at Marseilles have been denied by the club's president Vincent Labrune.

Barton who is on loan at the French club from Queen's Park Rangers, tweeted that he would not be returning to Loftus Road as the club face relegation from the Premier League.

Laubrune said: "We would not be against the idea of keeping Joey Barton at Olympique Marseilles but he belongs to QPR. There is no agreement as suggested by Joey Barton."
