Martin Odegaard played his first match in the all white strip of Real Madrid and provided two assists for the B team in a friendly draw against Beijing Guoan.

The 16-year-old Norwegian prodigy, who is reported to have signed an £80,000-a-week deal with the Spanish giants, was also named to the Champions League squad by Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti after the game.

If Odegaard plays in the first leg of the last-16 tie against Schalke, he will become the youngest debutant since the competition took over from the European Cup in the early 1990s. The current record is held by former Chelsea defender Celestine Babayaro who played in the competition at just 16 and 87 days.

Odegaard starred in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Chinese team Beijing Guoan, with the match arranged to assess his fitness.

The teenager, signed from Stromsgodset last month, could make his full debut against Athletic Bilbao B on Sunday. Real Madrid Castilla are hoping to win promotion into the Segunda Division, Spain's second tier.

Odegaard played 60 minutes of the 3-3 draw, setting up two goals in front of watching first-team assistant manager Fernando Hierro.
