Luke Shaw says that he is confident of forging a strong partnership with Memphis Depay this season, after both players impressed in Manchester United's 3-1 victory over Club Brugge in their Champions League qualifying play-off last night.
Depay, who joined United for £25m from PSV during the summer, scored twice in the win, and Shaw say the pair, who have forged a strong friendship off the pitch over the last few months, will form a lethal partnership down the left wing.
After last night's win, left-back Shaw said: “Of course I am really happy for him today," he said. "He is working so hard in training; he was really trying to get that first goal. Now he’s off the mark, hopefully it can bring him many more goals.
“I think our relationship is starting to build up, we have played a couple of games together and I am starting to understand how he wants to play. It is great to be playing with him, he can beat a man and he likes the attacking support from me as well – which is something I like to do.”
