Mourinho to be unveiled at Madrid on Monday after £7m compensation deal
Real Madrid have confirmed Jose Mourinho will be unveiled as their new coach on Monday after agreeing compensation with Internazionale.
The clubs' presidents, Florentino Perez and Massimo Moratti, met in Milan yesterday afternoon to thrash out a deal, which is reportedly worth €8m (£6.8m), to release the manager from the final two years of his contract at San Siro.
Mourinho will be presented at the Bernabeu at noon on Monday as he takes the place of Manuel Pellegrini, who was sacked on Wednesday night.
Madrid and Inter, who have just won the treble with Mourinho, claimed the agreement was reached "in light of the excellent friendship that exists between the two clubs".
But the mood of compromise did not end there, with the Spanish club conceding their new manager will put substance before style.
"Madrid's historic priorities are firstly to win titles, secondly to deliver players...and thirdly for the football to be enjoyed," said Real's director general Jorge Valdano. "Mourinho is a very intelligent person. Wherever he goes he knows what type of game works best for the team."
