Controversial Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu has apologised to the club for allegedly breaking a waiter's nose in a nightclub incident at the weekend.
The Romanian hitman was with friends when the fight broke out and he has spoke of his regret over his actions.
"I want to apologise deeply and sincerely to the club, the technical staff, my team-mates and all the fans," he said.
"I realise this incident should never have happened. I did not lose sight of the fact, in particular, that in my stupidity I engaged in a fight that I should have avoided, but also in light of the fact I spent an evening with friends who came specifically from Romania to celebrate their daughter's baptism the next day at the Orthodox Church in Florence."
