Although He admits that he is frustrated with the fact that he has not yet been able to nail down a regular place in the Real Madrid starting line-up, Michael Owen has ruled out an immediate return to the Premiership.

"I've got this year and three more signed on my contract and I am happy here," says the former Liverpool player who has been linked with Newcastle United in recent weeks. "Life is very good. I enjoy things both off and on the pitch. I've got plenty of fire in my belly because I want to perform more than I am performing at the moment. That is the only thing that I would change out here."

Owen further enhanced his reputation as one of the most effective finishers in Spain when he notched his 10th goal of the season in Real's Spanish Cup match against the Second Division team, Valladolid, on Wednesday, but to no avail as his side eventually went out on the away goals rule. Despite the disappointment, Owen remains confident about his ability. "In past seasons for Liverpool I've had more ups and downs, but since I've been over here I've come off after every game being quite satisfied with myself."
