Italian club Pescara to wear rainbow shirt designed by six-year-old fan

The Italian club have been running a competition in recent weeks which gave young fans the opportunity to design a club shirt

A six-year-old boy has won a competition to design a new football shirt for Italian Serie B side Pescara.

Luigi D’Agostino beat other children in the competition run by the club for their young fans during the coronavirus lockdown.

Luigi’s colourful entry includes a rainbow design on the club’s traditional blue, with a large dolphin heading a football across the front of the shirt.

Pescara’s mascot is a dolphin, with the club playing their matches in an Adriatic resort town famous for its beaches.

Italian sports kit supplier Erreà will make the shirts for the 2020/21 season and the company has invited Luigi to spend a day at its Parma headquarters, to see the new team strip coming off the production line.

Pescara were sat just above the Serie B relegation places in 14th before the coronavirus pandemic saw all Italian football halted midway through the season.
