PSG could be without Kylian Mbappe and Neymar for Champions League second leg with Real Madrid

Paris Saint-Germain could be without both Neymar and now Kylian Mbappe for their Champions League second leg with Real Madrid next week.

The Parisians trail 3-1 from the first leg after a Cristiano Ronaldo master-class as they look to overhaul the holders at the last-16 stage.

It was confirmed that they would have to do it without world-record buy Neymar just before kick-off as PSG revealed he would undergo surgery on his fractured foot.

PSG made eight changes as they beat Marseille 3-0 to reach the semi-finals of the Coupe de France but Mbappe’s injury overshadowed the win as he was withdrawn at half-time after taking a heavy knock to his ankle.

Head coach Unai Emery hoped the Frenchman would be fit to make the second leg after revealing it was Mbappe himself who asked to be taken off.

“He got a blow to his ankle,” Emery said. “He asked not to play in the second half and I hope it's not very important. But I have confidence in the players that I have. I hope to have all the players ready, whether they start or come off the bench during the match.”

PSG still have a game against Troyes in Ligue 1 between now and next week’s game with Real at the Parc des Princes to get through as Emery hopes the injury count doesn’t get any higher.
