Rafael Benitez has been appointed as Real Madrid's new coach on a three-year contract, the club have announced.
The Spaniard, who won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005, replaces Carlo Ancelotti, who was sacked last month after the club recorded a trophyless season.
Benitez leaves his post at Napoli to take the job. The side finished fifth in Serie A last season, missing out on a Champions League place.
He will be officially unveiled at the Bernabeu at 12noon today.
Benitez started his coaching career with Real's youth squad back in 1993.
The 55-year-old also had a spell as Chelsea's interim manager for the 2012/13 season, in which he guided the club to the Europa League trophy.
"I am enthusiastic and happy, although there are things that still need to be discussed," Benitez said upon his arrival in Madrid earlier this week.
