Mariann Barrena, Carlo Ancelotti’s wife, has added her voice to the chorus criticising the team of referees which officiated Bayern Munich’s controversial 4-2 defeat at Real Madrid.
Ancelotti’s side were eliminated from this season’s Champions League quarter-finals after Arturo Vidal’s disputable sending off and two Cristiano Ronaldo goals scored in extra time from offside positions.
The Bayern head coach called for the introduction of video technology in his post-match comments but stopped short of criticising referee Viktor Kassai and his assistants in strong terms.

“There should be a referee with more quality in a game like this or put the video referee because there were too many errors,” he said.
“I’m not saying we would have gone through with a different referee but the referee had a bad game it would have been a different game with video replays.”
Barrena, however, has been more forthright in her criticism of Kassai’s performance, describing the decisions that went against Ancelotti’s side as a “disgrace”.
“As it is now unanimous, I too will speak the truth! The refereeing during last night's game was a disgrace,” she wrote on her Instagram account.
Barrena went on to echo her husband’s call for the introduction of video technology, writing: “This should not happen at this level of this beautiful game.
“We deserved much more... It is time to bring in video technology, so that this game goes down in history as an example of what should never happen again.”
