Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is set to be sidelined for around three weeks due to an ankle injury sustained in the goalless draw with Real Mallorca.
The 25-year-old former Manchester United forward has had a scan on the problem and will definitely miss Portugal’s upcoming European Championship qualifiers against Cyprus and Norway.
A statement on Real’s official club website read: “A physical examination and an MRI scan confirmed a bone contusion to the malleolus and tibia near the right ankle, as well as a post-traumatic edema.
“The player is not going to be able to play for approximately three weeks.”
Ronaldo joined Real just over a year ago and found the net 26 times in 30 La Liga outings during his first season at the Santiago Bernabeu.
