Ronaldo passes Real medical
Cristiano Ronaldo has successfully completed his medical with Real Madrid this afternoon, the Primera Division club have confirmed.
Ronaldo landed at Madrid airport just after midday today before heading to the Hospital Sanitas La Moraleja for his medical as he puts the finishing touches on his world-record £80m transfer from Manchester United.
The 24-year-old has agreed a six-year contract with Madrid and will be presented at the Bernabeu this evening at 2100 local time, with an estimated 80,000 spectators set to be in attendance.
Carlos Diez, Real Madrid's medical chief, told www.realmadrid.com: "(Ronaldo) is in perfect condition and very eager to start the season as soon as possible."
Ronaldo, the reigning FIFA World Player of the Year, will be the third new signing presented by Madrid since Florentino Perez returned to the club presidency at the start of June.
Brazil star Kaka, who cost a reported £56milllion from AC Milan, was unveiled in front of around 55,000 people at the Bernabeu last Tuesday while Spain international Raul Albiol was presented on Thursday following his move from Valencia.
Madrid have also agreed a deal with Lyon for their striker Karim Benzema for an initial fee of £30million, a transfer that takes the Spanish giants' summer spending close to the £200million mark.
Hundreds of fans are already queueing up outside the Bernabeu for what is set to be one of the biggest-ever attendances for a player presentation.
