Serge Aurier will not be sacked by Paris Saint-Germain but may well have played his last game for the club after making homophobic comments about manager Laurent Blanc.
The Ivorian right-back, labelled "pitiful" by Blanc, had described the manager as a "faggot" and suggested he showed favouritisim to star man Zlatan Ibrahimovic, even suggesting the pair had engaged in oral sex.
The comments were made on social media site Periscope.
According to French television station Canal+, Aurier, 23, will not be sacked for his comments.
However, he will not play for the first-team again this season, having been demoted to the reserves and will also pay a fine of €180,000 (approx. £140,000).
Ahead of PSG's 2-1 win over Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday night, Blanc had said: "How did I react? Very badly. Very badly.
"Because we think whatever we like – this is a democracy and we are free to think about things, have our opinions – but that boy…
"Two years ago, I committed myself to bring him to Paris, so to see what I saw yesterday… that’s the thanks I get? It’s pitiful. I won’t say more because I’m here to talk about the Chelsea game, a very important match, but he has penalised himself. He should have been preparing for a last-16 round game in the Champions League. That would have been better than staying at home not knowing what to do with himself. It’s bad for him but what I won’t accept is that he’s damaged the club."
