Tottenham vs Liverpool, Champions League final: Jurgen Klopp gives positive Roberto Firmino injury update
Firmino missed the semi-final second leg against Barcelona with a groin problem
Jurgen Klopp expects Roberto Firmino will be "fine" to play for Liverpool in Saturday’s Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur.
Firmino missed the semi-final second leg against Barcelona and the final games of the Premier League campaign with a groin problem.
The 27-year-old returned to training with Klopp’s squad in Marbella last week and the Liverpool manager expects to be able to call upon him in Madrid.
“Bobby trained, was part of training last week. Everything fine,” Klopp said “Then we took him out again.
“He will be in training tomorrow again. All we’ve seen so far looks really good. He will be fine, I’m pretty sure.”
Naby Keita will play no part in Madrid, however, having failed to recover from a thigh injury in time.
Keita was replaced during the first half of Liverpool’s first-leg defeat in Barcelona and has not played since, yet was included in Guniea’s squad for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
“No chance for Naby,” Klopp confirmed. “Naby is really progressing well, we will see how it works out with Afcon.”
