Champions League: Arsene Wenger targeting Arsenal victory against Borussia Dortmund with one eye on trip to Napoli

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger feels his side's fight for qualification from the toughest of Champions League groups could well go down to the wire.

The Gunners head to Borussia Dortmund on matchday four looking to recover from defeat by Jurgen Klopp's well-drilled outfit at the Emirates Stadium which has left three sides all locked on six points after Napoli beat Group F whipping boys Marseille.

It promises to be another fascinating encounter, with Dortmund chasing what would be an eighth successive home Champions League victory and having never lost against English opposition at the Westfalenstadion - where Arsenal were within two minutes of winning in September 2011.

The Gunners, meanwhile, are unbeaten from four away ties in Germany - the last being a famous 2-0 win over the eventual European champions Bayern Munich in March.

Wenger, though, feels nothing will be decided for certain on Wednesday night, with Napoli set to travel to Dortmund in matchday five before the final round of Group F fixtures on December 11.

"To win (in Dortmund) will put us in a strong position, but after that then we will have to make a good result in Naples because you could expect them to beat Marseille at home," said Wenger.

"So no matter what happens (in Dortmund) that game (against Napoli) becomes of a huge importance."

German playmaker Mesut Ozil, who had been struggling with a virus, was subdued in the clash between the two sides a fortnight ago, where a late goal from Poland forward Robert Lewandowski settled matters just when it seemed Arsenal had done enough to fight back and earn a draw.

Wenger feels the Gunners' club-record £43million signing from Real Madrid, who had spells in the Bundesliga with Schalke and then Werder Bremen, will soon be up to full speed.

"Ozil is in an adaptation period in English football at the moment," the Gunners boss said.

"I asked him about the difference between England and La Liga, he knows the physical challenges here are much more intense. The team here play until the last minute.

"He is adapting, but Ozil is an exceptional football player. I am very happy he decided to join us."

Aaron Ramsey has enjoyed a superb personal start to the new campaign, scoring nine goals already.

The Wales midfielder believes the additions of such high-calibre players as Ozil can only help the rest of the squad raise their own standards.

"The competition we have in midfield now is good, we have some great players and that keeps you on your toes, wanting to improve," Ramsey told talkSPORT.

"If the game is not going to plan, you can then bring on another quality player who can have an impact on the game, and that is a great headache for the manager to have."

Ramsey accepts Arsenal need to deliver another composed away European display if they are to return from Dortmund with a positive result.

"Last season we went to Bayern Munich, who were the winners in this competition, - and got a great result to win 2-0," he said.

"We have been to Dortmund before and got a draw, where again we conceded a late goal, so we know what their stadium is all about.

"It is going to be a tough place to go, but we will be confident we can get a good result."
