Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that club captain John Terry will start in the Capital One Cup against League One Walsall on Wednesday night.

Terry, who played every minute of every Premier League match as Chelsea won the title last season, was dropped by the manager for the crucial victory against Arsenal at the weekend after the Blues endured a terrible start to the season.

The Blues had failed to keep a clean sheet in any of the four matches that Terry has started this season, and he was taken off at half-time in the defeat at Manchester City, but have now kept two in a row with him out of the team, against Maccabi Tel Aviv and Arsenal.

The 34-year-old and striker Radamel Falcao will be among a number of changes expected by Jose Mourinho when Chelsea visit Walsall, who are second in League One, on Wendesday night.

"Yes, I (will) play (Radamel) Falcao. Diego goes on the bench," said Mourinho speaking after the Arsenal win.

The Chelsea boss was then asked if Terry would also play and added: "Sure, of course."
