Chester left-back Gareth Roberts needed an energy boost during his side’s FA Cup second round replay with Barnsley at the Deva Stadium.
The 36-year-old, who started his career at Liverpool before spells at Tranmere, Doncaster and Derby, opted for a packet of Jaffa Cakes to help him get through the 90 minutes against a team three divisions above.
Roberts, who also won nine caps for Wales between 2000 and 2005, tucked into a couple himself before offering them out to his team-mates, the opposition and even the referee.
Unfortunately for Chester, the energy boost didn’t work, as Barnsley secured their place against Middlesbrough in the third round.
Rio Ferdinand also famously tucked into a Jaffa Cake while playing for Manchester United during a break in play and often tucks in at half-time.
