FA Cup quarter-final draw: Arsenal to play Everton in quarter-final

The draw for the quarter-final of the FA Cup has taken place

Arsenal's victory over Liverpool has been rewarded with a home draw for the quarter-final, but they must play fellow Premier League high-flyers Everton.

Manchester City, who overcame Chelsea in the last round and are the favourites to win this year's cup, will play Wigan Athletic. It will be a repeat of last year's final when Wigan, then managed by Roberto Martinez, stunned their wealthy opponents at Wembley to win 1-0.

Sunderland, who beat Southampton yesterday, face an away trip to either Brighton or Hull City, who play tomorrow. Should Hull come through that tie, it will see their manager Steve Bruce going up against his former side. Should Brighton win, it will mean a reunion with Gus Poyet.

The final tie will be between Sheffield United, who beat Nottingham Forest, and Sheffield Wednesday or Charlton. While a Sheffield derby is a possibility, one certainty is there will be a side outside the top-flight in the semi-finals at Wembley.

The headline fixture however is the match-up between Arsenal and Everton. Toffees manager Martinez is bidding to become the first ever manager to win successive FA Cup titles with different teams. That task is now looking incredibly difficult however with a trip to the Emirates standing in the way of a return to Wembley.
