There is a lot of focus on John Stones at the moment due to the interest being shown in him by Chelsea, which is unfortunate considering his blooper in Everton's Capital One Cup tie with Barnsley.

Ahead of the match there was uncertainty over whether he would start the match at Oakwell amid reports that after a third bid of around £30m from Chelsea he had handed in a transfer request.

Toffees boss Roberto Martinez opted to include the 21-year-old - but was probably quickly regretting it.

In the 22nd minute, Barnsley striker Sam Winnall took a shot that Stones looked to have covered. Only the 'heir to John Terry' decided to jump over the ball and it ended up going into the back of the net.

Everton won the match 5-3, but on after extra-time.
