Leicester City welcome Aston Villa to the King Power on Wednesday evening for the first-leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.

Brendan Rodgers' side are enjoying an excellent season and find themselves second in the table and with a trip to Wembley within their grasp.

The Foxes reached the semi-finals after beating Everton on penalties in December, while Aston Villa thrashed a young Liverpool side in the quarter-finals.

The visitors are only one point away from the drop zone and lost their starting striker and goalkeeper to injury on New Year's Day.

Villa face an uphill battle against high-flying Leicester but they carry two-leg experience into the tie after their Championship play-off semi-final victory over West Bromwich Albion last season.

Team news

Brendan Rodgers was able to rotate much of his squad in Leicester's 2-0 FA Cup victory over Wigan Athletic on Saturday but Wes Morgan and Filip Benkovic - both back-up centre backs - came off injured. A strong Foxes line-up is expected for this match, with striker Jamie Vardy available after overcoming a tight calf.

Aston Villa's squad has been picked apart by injury recently. Number one Tom Heaton and striker Wesley both came off injured in the 2-1 win at Burnley on New Year's Day, joining Matt Targett and John McGinn on the sidelines. The only good news for Dean Smith is that Tyrone Mings has recently returned to fitness.

Prediction

The Foxes were dominant at Villa Park in December and it is hard to see a different outcome here die to Aston Villa's injuries. Mings' return in defence might not be enough to prevent Leicester all-but ending this tie in the first-leg.
