Yohan Cabaye will play no part in Newcastle's Capital One Cup second-round trip to Morecambe this evening with his future still in the balance.
Alan Pardew has ruled the France international midfielder, who is wanted by Arsenal, out of the game at the Globe Arena. But the manager remains confident that he will complete some new signings before next week's transfer deadline.
"Even without the Cabaye situation, that's something we know we have to try to do," said Pardew. "I think we have done a good bit of business with Loïc Rémy, I really do. It's a good start and we need to finish it off."
