Manchester City's Pep Guardiola rules out unprecedented quadruple after EFL Cup win over Leicester
The City manager was 'so happy' to see his young side progress but would not consider the idea that City might achieve something unprecedented in English football

Pep Guardiola ruled out a potential quadruple after Manchester City squeezed past Leicester and into the semi-finals of the EFL Cup.
Bernardo Silva seemed to have put City through when Leicester were awarded a late spot-kick, converted by Jamie Vardy, which sent the game to extra-time and penalties.
Vardy and Riyad Mahrez both missed in the shootout as Guardiola’s second string continued their run in the competition, alongside their sensational league and European form.
The City manger was “so happy” to see his young side progress but would not consider the idea that City might achieve something unprecedented in English football. ”Forget about it. That is not going to happen,” said the Spaniard when asked if his side could win four trophies.
On the penalty, Guardiola preferred to focus on the positives. “We will see if it’s a penalty or not but what I liked the most is how we reacted and overcame that situation,” he added. “That’s a good sign for our future.”
Claude Puel was disappointed to see Leicester bow out of the competition but pleased with his side’s response following Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at home to struggling Crystal Palace.
“It was a very good game between two good teams. It’s a disappointment of course but there are no regrets as we gave our best,” said the Foxes manager. “We had a lot of chances to score tonight and I like this positive outlook and we got a response after the last game.”
