Sir Alex Ferguson was spotted in the crowd as Manchester City beat Everton to reach the final of the League Cup on Wednesday night.
Despite plenty on social media joking that the Scot would finally get to watch some entertaining football – as he wasn’t stuck watching the turgid fare offered up at Old Trafford – the Scot was caught looking rather bored.
In fact, the former Manchester United boss, now 74, didn't seem too impressed with what he was seeing as he was caught on camera letting out a big yawn, despite seeing City impress in a controversial 3-1 win.
Kevin De Bruyne’s goal to put City in the lead was hotly contested by the Tofees, with the ball definitely going out of play before Raheem Sterling cut it back for the Belgian.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez called the decision “hurtful and unfair” as City progressed to meet Liverpool in the final.
The Scot was sitting next to City academy boss Mark Allen and had been invited as a guest by City to attend the game, according to reports.
Ferguson has been very speculatively linked as a short-term replacement for under-pressure Louis van Gaal in recent days.
