Saunders hits out at fixture list planners

Wolves manager Dean Saunders watched his side finally climb out of the relegation places yesterday after a fourth win in five matches, with a 3-2 victory at Birmingham, before attacking the Championship fixture planners for making Wolves play twice in 48 hours.

"It was a definite disadvantage against ourselves to play again today," Saunders said. "It is something that needs to be looked at."

Stephen Hunt grabbed the opener before Sylvan Ebanks-Blake's double put Wolves 3-0 up at the break with Wade Elliot scoring twice from the spot in reply for the Blues.

Leicester City's play-off hopes were dealt another major blow as they suffered a third straight league defeat, going down 2-0 at Barnsley.

The Tykes made it a hat-trick of wins at home thanks to Michael Keane's own goal and a strike from on-loan forward Chris O'Grady. Jason Scotland missed a penalty for the home side in the second half.

Lewis McGugan's stoppage-time penalty helped Billy Davies extend his unbeaten run as Nottingham Forest manager to nine games with a 1-1 draw at Burnley. Junior Stanislas had put the home side ahead in the second half.

Millwall and Ipswich played out a dull, goalless draw at the Den.
