Burton's threat to walk out on Dons

The Wimbledon manager Terry Burton threatened to walk out on Wimbledon after his side's Nationwide League First Division 3-3 draw with Portsmouth last night – unless the club's stadium problems are sorted out.

Burton believes the continued talks about a move to Milton Keynes have divided the club and finally his players have been affected. He said after the Selhurst Park fixture: "I am considering my position at the club. Not everybody is pulling in the same direction and it's not happening.

"Every day we are going out and working hard and even tonight when we were 3-0 up there was a bad feeling about the place. The club disillusions me and I don't know where the support is going to come from. There is no money and there is nothing for the club to hang on to. The whole place stinks at the moment and tonight there was a bad feeling around the ground.

"This is the worst I have felt at the club since I arrived and the feeling is even worse than when we were relegated. It seems as though somebody has a hoodoo over the club and every time I paper over one problem something else happens."

Kevin Cooper gave the Dons a 1-0 half-time lead. Michael Hughes and David Connolly made it 3-0, before Mark Burchill and Peter Crouch pulled it back to 3-2. A last-minute Lee Bradbury penalty, following the dismissal of Darren Holloway, completed the comeback for Portsmouth.

In the Worthington Cup second round, Watford recovered from a 2-0 deficit with 17 minutes to go to beat Bristol City 3-2 at Ashton Gate. Micah Hyde scored the winning goal in injury time.

Extra-time goals from Michele Di Piedi and Pablo Bonvin helped Sheffield Wednesday beat the Premiership side Sunderland 4-2 at Hillsborough.
