John Sheridan has been sacked as manager of Chesterfield after the side failed to win their first three League Two games of the season. Tommy Wright, who was Sheridan's assistant, will take over as caretaker manager.

Chesterfield chief executive Chris Turner said: "Tommy will take charge of the first team for the foreseeable future. We need to take stock of the situation so we are not looking to make an immediate appointment."
