Dean Glover has been installed as the new manager of Coca-Cola League Two strugglers Port Vale.
The former Vale defender, 44, had been caretaker boss since Lee Sinnott was sacked on 22 September.
Although Vale have lost their two matches since Sinnott's departure, and stand 19th in League Two, the club's board decided Glover was the right man for the permanent role.
Chairman Bill Bratt told official club website www.port-vale.co.uk: "It is important the club unite behind Dean Glover and give him as much support as possible to turn things around on the pitch and get the season going again."
