Nottingham Forest's loan signing Darren Huckerby made his presence felt again as his new team won 4-1 at Gillingham to move up to third place in the First Division table.

Huckerby, borrowed from Manchester City, volleyed in his first goal in the seventh minute and steered in a second 10 minutes later. He had scored on his Forest debut against Watford last Saturday. Marlon Harewood made it 3-0 just after half-time and John Thompson headed in a fourth from a corner before a late consolation for the Gills from Rod Wallace.

Sheffield United climbed to fourth as they warmed up for Sunday's FA Cup sixth-round tie with Leeds by winning 4-1 at Grimsby. The Blades were 3-0 ahead in just 32 minutes through goals from Dean Windass, Steve Kabba and Rob Kozluk. Stuart Campbell pulled one back for Grimsby but they had Alan Pouton sent off before a late strike from Michael Brown wrapped things up for United.
