El-Hadji Diouf has been fined two weeks' wages for his sending off in Leeds' 2-1 defeat to Brighton at Elland Road on Saturday. The striker was dismissed for making an offensive gesture towards Brighton fans after he scored a penalty.

The Leeds manager, Brian McDermott, said: "I've spoken to El-Hadji Diouf and he has apologised. He has accepted the sending off and the club have fined him two weeks' wages, which is the maximum we can do. I've had a good conversation with Dioufy regarding the future, he is fully committed for what is to come next season."

Leeds have appealed the red card shown to midfielder Rodolph Austin in the same match.
