Tony Mowbray last night parted company with Middlesbrough after three years as manager.
Boro have won just two of their opening 12 league games and lie 16th in the Championship. Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at struggling Barnsley was the final straw for many fans, who called for Mowbray’s departure.
The club confirmed that assistant Mark Venus would take over until a permanent successor is appointed. Boro entertain Doncaster on Friday.
