Neil Lennon: Bolton launch investigation following claim manager ‘made knife threat to woman’
Championship club confirm they are looking into allegations
Bolton have launched an internal investigation after allegations were made about manager Neil Lennon's private life in the Sunday Mirror.
The newspaper alleges that the football manager had a relationship with a woman behind his long-term partner's back. They also claim that when the woman threatened to expose the relationship, Lennon told her someone "could" put a knife to her throat.
Championship club Bolton - in administration and without a win since September - confirmed on Sunday evening that they are looking into the reports.
"In response to an article published in the Sunday Mirror on Sunday 20 December, Bolton Wanderers can confirm that the club are currently conducting an internal investigation regarding the matter concerned," a statement on the club's website.
"The club will be making no further comment at this moment in time."
