Norwich boss Daniel Farke is under increasing pressure with accusations of overtraining his players compounding the Canaries’ stuttering league form.

City find themselves as close to relegation as promotion right now, and the feeling at Carrow Road in pre-season was that they should have been at least in the playoff mix under the highly-rated Farke.

But the German is facing increasingly unhappy first-teamers due to the excessive workload which, coupled with the brutal festive fixture list, they fear could result in more injuries.

Senior sporting figures at the club are understood to have discussed the issue with Farke, but the former Dortmund second-team boss is insistent on sticking by his methods which include frequent double sessions.

Players described feeling particularly fatigued in recent weeks, a run which has seen just one win in their last ten games, and they were stunned by Farke's recent comments that they were soft and needed to be "more brutal".

Norwich host Brentford on Friday night looking to haul themselves back into the playoff mix, and while Farke’s job is not understood to be at immediate risk, given the club hierarchy have a strong belief in the German’s long-term project, they are aware of increasing displeasure with their coach’s methods.
