* BURY The club have sacked manager Chris Casper with immediate effect, along with director of football Keith Alexander. The dismissal follows a run of nine games without victory. Casper, who had been in charge at Gigg Lane since October 2005, leaves the Shakers in 19th position in League Two. A club statement said the duo had "lost the confidence of a large majority of the fans."
* Swansea city Roberto Martinez admitted it was "very pleasing" to have been singled out by former Newcastle chairman Sir John Hall as one of the country's leading young managers, but has dismissed suggestions he is a contender for the vacant managerial position at St James' Park. "It's flattering," he said. "It's a great compliment. The fans should be happy as it means we must be doing something right."
* Gillingham The Priestfields club have confirmed the permanent arrival of Adam Miller from Stevenage in a two-year deal.
* Brighton and hove albion The club have signed Falkirk captain Steven Thomson.
