Sven Goran Eriksson has officially been appointed England soccer coach.
The Football Association this afternoon ended weeks of speculation by announcing the Lazio boss had agreed to take charge.
FA chief executive Adam Crozier said Eriksson was undoubtedly the "best person" for the job.
And he said Eriksson, who will be backed by right hand men Peter Taylor, Brian Kidd and Steve McClaren, Sir Alex Ferguson's coach at Manchester United, would work towards helping an Englishman eventually take over the job.
Eriksson, who will live in London, will manage England in the two World Cup qualifiers in March and June, although he will remain Lazio coach until his contract expires on July 1.
