This summer's European Championships have seen some remarkable performances, many of them coming from those players with less than 'international' profiles.

Yet for every underdog story at this Euros, there has been one of underachievement. Several players came to France last month with hopes of taking the tournament by storm but have fallen way short.

Others are established stars who wanted to add a sheen of international success to their record.

Some are youngsters, keen to maintain their excellent club form on the big stage.

Take a look at the gallery above to see who Jack Pitt-Brooke, The Independent’s football correspondent, rated as the biggest flops in France.
