Müller talks Turkey: 'the worst day of my life'

Patrick Müller hopes Switzerland can forget about their elimination from the Euros and fight for honour in their final match against Portugal tomorrow night.
The 31-year-old defender described how the co-host's decisive loss to Turkey marked the "worst day of his life." Müller was partly responsible for the injury-time goal on Wednesday that ended Swiss hopes of advancing to the quarter-finals. "I wish I brought more to the pitch, took on more responsibility, closed down space quicker, directed the defence better," said Müller. "We waited so long for this and the disappointment is massive."
Switzerland lost after Arda Turan's shot deflected off Müller's leg and looped over goalkeeper Diego Benaglio's head. "I didn't hit the ball right. Maybe it would have been better had I not touched it at all. Diego was there and he would have had it easily."
