Poland vs Portugal player ratings: Who shone brightest in Marseille?
Robert Lewandowski and Renato Sanches traded goals before the quarter-final was settled from the spot

Poland took an early lead in their first ever European Championship quarter-final but were pegged back by a Portugal side with more history in the competition.

Strong in the tackle as ever and picked up customary booking

Not entirely convincing with handling but made all-important save in shoot-out

Benefitted from commanding showing of Pepe and played part in keeping Poland out after opener

Struggled to make impact after being brought back into the side

Caught the eye with his positional sense and time on the ball. Banned for semi-final, however.

Struggled for composure at times and replaced by ultimate hero Quaresma

Renato Sanches 8 out of 10
Hot young prospect earned start and showed what all fuss is about with fine goal and composed penalty
