It’s a big game for…

BOGDAN STANCU: After a solid performance against France, capped by coolly slotting away Romania’s penalty, Stancu will surely lead the line for the Tricolori. Switzerland’s defence looked shaky against Albania, and should Romania hope to get their first points of the competition they’ll be needing Stancu to deliver once again.

Best stat…

Having met 12 times previously, Romania and Switzerland have each won five games and drawn twice.

Player to watch…

ADMIR MEHMEDI: Mehmedi was the focal point of Switzerland’s attack against Albania and, while wasteful, he showcased his ability in spades. Quick, a strong dribbler and good with both feet, the Leverkusen forward will be looking to make up for missed chances.

Premier League interest…

Romania: Costel Pantilimon (Watford)

Switzerland: Valon Behrami (Watford), Xherdan Shaqiri (Stoke City); Granit Xhaka (Arsenal); Shani Tarashaj (Everton).

Past three-meetings…

Switzerland 0 Romania 1 – International Friendly

Romania 1 Switzerland 4 – Fifa World Cup 1994, Group Stages

Romania 1 Switzerland 0 – Euro 1992 Qualifying Round
