US knock out disappointing Mexicans
The United States have reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup after a 2-0 defeat of Mexico.
Brian McBride put the US ahead after just eight minutes as the Americans took control against a disappointing Mexican side in the early stages. Landon Donovan made the game safe after 65 minutes when he headed home an Eddie Lewis cross.
A frustrated Mexican team lost their composure towards the end of the game and saw captain Rafael Marquez sent off for a bad challenge.
