Wembley sell-out with 90,000 set to watch worst team in the world

Wembley have announced that Friday's match between England and San Marino is a 90,000 sell-out.

The World Cup qualifier will see Roy Hodgson's side, ranked fifth in the world, take on a side ranked 207th by Fifa, making them the joint worst side in the world alongside Turks and Caicos Islands.

The 90,000 at Wembley can expect goals - England's only two games against the European minnows ended 6-0 and 7-1. During qualification for Euro 2012 the Netherlands put 11 past the microstate in Italy, which has a population of 30,000. Betting firms are backing seven goals on Friday night.

The last remaining tickets for the match were sold this morning with 22,000 family tickets sold and 8,000 Olympic 'Games Makers' taking up the promotional offer of tickets for £20.12.

The visitors have been given an allocation of 300 tickets.

Achieving a sell-out for the match is all the more commendable considering England's last match at Wembley against Ukraine had an attendance of 68,102.

"This is only my third match in charge at Wembley but I know that it is set to be another huge crowd and that is a great tribute to the magnificent support the national team enjoys in this country," said Hodgson.

"It is something I am proud to be part of, and certainly not something anyone takes for granted.

"It has a terrific impact on players to have a passionate home support turning out and backing them all the way, which hopefully can help us along this qualification campaign."
